Artist of the Month is the most-asked-about thing on the station, so we figured it's worth actually explaining how it works — because it's simpler, and more honest, than people expect.
Anyone can nominate anyone. A fan, a manager, the artist themselves, another artist. We don't weight nominations differently based on who submitted them or how many followers they have. A nomination from one dedicated fan carries the same weight as one from a label rep.
Every nominated artist gets a real listening session with our programming team, not a 15-second skim. We're listening for songwriting, production quality, and something harder to name: whether the artist has a clear point of view. Technical polish matters, but it's not the only thing that gets someone picked.
This is the part we want to be loudest about: you cannot buy your way into Artist of the Month. Not through ad spend, not through "exposure packages," not through anything. The moment that becomes negotiable, the feature stops meaning anything — for us or for the artist wearing the title.
Beyond the on-air feature: an interview slot, promotion across our social channels, and — this is the part that actually moves careers — a direct line to our A&R team for real conversations about distribution, branding, and marketing support.
Know someone who deserves the spotlight? Submit a nomination — it takes less time than writing this sentence took you to read.
